Inspired for Summer

Flared

I did it.  I told you I was on the hunt and I wasnt messing around.  After searching ebay/second-hand sites for days, I sucked it up and purchased these 7 for all Mankind bell bottom jeans for full price. I got them in the mail on Wednesday and they are all I hoped for and more.  They are SUPER flared, like I am channeling 1972, which is totally fine with me because I have always thought that I belonged in that hippie era anyways.  My only complaint about them is that they are SO long.  This is the first time I can remember that I have found a pair of jeans that were still at least 3 inches too long with 5" heels.  Ill just bring to the tailor though and fix that right up.  So worth the investment- even if it means I have to eat Ramen noodles for the next month.  Will post pics soon.

Eye-blast

After seeing this photo I either need to a: get some pretty real looking faux lashes or b: invest in that new Latisse crap.  I have the shortest eye lashes ever and I hate them, I would give my left arm (I'm a righty) to have lashes as gorgeous as these. sighh.  Oh and those red nails are to.die.for.

But what I really want is to be lazy

This weekend is almost here and we are having our annual Memorial Day Weekend bash, only this go round its at our new home! I am so excited to show off all our hard work to our friends and family who are making the trek from near and far.  There is nothing better than 75 degrees and sunny, with your favorite people.  When Monday morning rolls around though, I am going to be dreaming of laying peacefully in the sun, relaxing.  Ill take a place at any of the above please and thank you.

Map it out

We arent planning to have any sort of nautical theme for our home, but we are quite obsessed with hanging an oversized map in our living room on the large blank wall behind the couch.  I searched and scoured the internet for a map large enough to suit our needs, and couldnt find anything in the color that would work for less than $2000 (seriously, its freakin paper!).  Luckily, my in-laws had a large assortment of maps in their storage that they were nice enough to hand over to us.  Aside from a HUGE world map that will one day live above the couch, we came across a copy of a hand drawn map of Boston from the late 1700s.  Pretty cool I must say.  That baby will be framed and in our office, as a little reminder of the city we love the most.

House Update 5.18

Well- here are some long awaited photos of the new house- well, the new floors in the new house.  When we moved in, the place was covered top to bottom in Berber carpet.  Both the husband and I are not fans of carpet, so our fist major decision was to rip it up and low and behold, we found original hardwood floors underneath that were actually in pretty decent shape.  Ripping up the carpet is top 5 in the worst things ever- the process was painful and long- it took us almost 10 hours with ripping up the carpet, pulling out the tack board (i might be making that word up) and then pulling the staples out of the floor.  I estimate we pulled around 10,000 staples out of the first floor and the stairs.  One stair actually had 87 staples (I counted because I was so angry).  But, in the end, the work paid off.  The hardwoods underneath werent bad, but they were a color that we both absolutely hated, not to mention the random brick/linoleum we found in the front entryway was not appealing at all.  Poor husband worked for an hour to pick away at the stuff, and then the floor guys came in and peeled it off with a heat gun in about 5 minutes.  We hired a company to come in and refinish the floors, giving them a dark chestnut brown stain, and they came out to exactly what we wanted.  We left the carpet on the 2nd floor (which you will see in posts to come) but within a year that will be ripped up too and replaced with hardwoods painted white.

Roaming Gypsy

I so need these flare jeans.  Like I might need them more than food for the next 3 days. I like the whole skinny jean thing and all, but a good pair of flares takes the cake any day for me.  I have been trying so hard not to shop with all we have needed to purchase for the new house, but then I see pictures of these and all I can think about is going to buy these with a great vintage shirt and some turquoise jewelry, maybe a bracelet. And a nice little satchel like hers.  I am on the search, wish me luck.
