But not real skulls, not the life sized ones with fur you find at your local hillbilly bar in NH- I of course mean faux taxidermy that make an impressive mark in any homes decor. This saber tooth tiger skull from z gallerie might be making its way into my dining room pretty soon. I have a feeling the husband wont approve but oh well. He can have his tools, i can have my skulls and antlers.

Shine On

For a while now I have been very obsessed with painting any hardwood floors I could get my hands on white, or any other color really. I finally convinced the husband it was a good idea, and he even offered to rip up the carpet in the master bedroom so I could paint the floors underneath (what a man I have). So i went to Home Depot and asked the men at the paint center what type of paint to use. the conversation went something like this:

Me: "Hi, if i was going to paint my hardwood floors white, what type of paint would be best?"

Man at Counter (MAC): "Why would you do that?"

Me: " because i like the way it looks. If i use regular paint, will it seep into the wood and ruin it?"

MAC: "Im not sure why you would paint hardwood floors. "

Me (getting very annoyed): "I said i like the way it looks. Listen, I am not asking for your opinion, just your guidance. Can you help me or not"

MAC: "Well we dont sell paint for hardwood floors"

Me: " well they are made of wood, so wouldnt regular paint work?"

MAC: " I have never heard of anyone wanting to do this. Why would you pay for new hardwood floors just to paint over them?"

Me (ready to slap this man): "sir, they are not new they are under carpet and i want to paint them."

MAC: "Oh- well in that case, i guess you could use the WOOD PAINT WE SELL RIGHT OVER THERE"

This literally lasted 5 minutes. Who cares if he didnt like the idea. Clearly he doesnt read any blogs or home decor magazines- and his failure to answer my simple question explains why he is working in the paint shop at the Home Depot. Idiot.

Anyways, the above images are wonderful. I love the shine, it adds a touch of glam to the rooms. I am totally doing this when we move into phase 2 of the house renovations.

House Update

Wow it has been a long time since I have posted anything to the blog-mostly because we have been so busy with working around our new house! There is so much to do, it really feels like it is never ending. I have spent more time at Home Depot in the last 4 weeks then in my whole life and have officially made friends with the stock guy in the paint department (he knows everyyyything). I dont have any photos to share of the house just yet, but here are some previews to what we are working towards:

Master Bedroom- our room is pretty large with 3 great big windows so its gets plenty of natural light (which i love, however this tends to wake me up way earlier than i should be). My plan for the room has changed dramatically just in the 3 short weeks we have been here. At first, I wanted gray walls and more modern decor. Then i decided we would wallpaper an accent wall- and now i have decided that i want my room to be all white and comfy and dreamy. Perfectly blissful, just like the images below:






I will be sharing photos of the master bedroom next week. Have to get a few things finished before I can show this darling off to the world.

Looking Ahead

How amazing is the J Crew lookbook for Fall? I love summer but now I am even more excited for Fall with these outfits. The wedding dress is to die for, I love the combo of frilly dress and winter mittens. How do they still have such a WOW factor every single season?

Words to live by

It is a new day and two days ago I started a new job! Lots of new things going on here with the NJ clan. Best part of this new job? it allows me to work from home, which will be a nice perk (I can close my eyes and just picture myself taking conference calls while laying in the sun or redecorating a room). Yay for me!
